Power of a Great design

A great design exhibits a cohesive vision where every element relates to one another. In designing with the chosen landscape style in mind, it is vital we position key features in strategic and meaningful locations to express a coherent and powerful vision.

In  doing luxury landscape design, less is more. Simple lines do not mean a bland, boring landscape. If designed and executed carefully, less could be a more timeless, elegant design. Choose your sparkles mindfully and establish spatial and elements hierarchy. Don’t design it bejeweled all over the place, but accentuate instead; build up the drama on one explosive focal point or create subtle contrast and varied experiences for highlights.

A powerfully designed space reflects an intentional design of understanding the site environment and utilizing the natural elements of the area into a cohesive, visual and therapeutic space for the people  who will be using the designed setting, which thereby not only improve the property value of the design, but most especially upgrade the quality of life of the targeted users through the restorative power of nature.

The History of Creative Environments

Creative Environments has been an industry leader in landscape design for over 70 years. Our team prides ourselves on creating custom outdoor living spaces that are cutting-edge and timeless.  Our headquarters is located in Tempe, Arizona, but our designs are known globally from Mexico, Costa Rica and The British Virgin Islands. 1950
Established as a Landscape contractor by Charles Hammond
1980
Design services offered.
May 10, 1993
Dan Waters, employee of the company, bought 50% ownership and began to restructure and grow the company from 5 employees to over 700. The company then changed its name to Creative Environments.
1999
First landscape design and build: Four Seasons Scottsdale.
2002
Began design & build with Tom Weiskopf on Seven Canyons private golf course in Sedona, Arizona.
2006
-Began design & build of all pool work to take control of all outdoor luxury living.

-Design for private community on Pacific Coast Costa Rica.
2008
-Started landscape maintenance

-Metal Fabrication shop opened

-Began consulting with Nicklaus Golf in Cabo San Lucas.
2015

2020
Began working with Camelot Homes in design & build of many award-winning projects.
2023
-Continuous expansion; models out-of-state; Texas, North Carolina, Florida, Pennsylvania, Utah, Colorado, Calfornia.

-Over 650,000 companies in the USA, Creative Environments is now in the top 50 Landscape companies in the USA.

1970
Founder Charles Hammond came from California following Del E. Webb to work in Sun City, AZ.
1985
Dan humbly began working as a summer laborer in the field.
1994
We became the primary subcontractor to all major pool companies in Arizona (Presidential, Shasta, California Pools, Paddock Pools).
2000
-Toll Brothers begins home building in Arizona and Creative Environments becomes a long standing parter in designing and building, winning numerous awards.

-There are over 650,000 Landscape Companies in the USA, Creative Environments is recognized in the top 150.
2004
3D Established
2007
Opening office building on Hardy Drive.
2012
Started pool maintenance.
2016
-Began design & build of the first model with Shea Homes that won national awards. We have continued designing & building with Shea and earning recognition on many more national award winning projects.

- Creative Environments begins working with Rosewood Homes, designing many award-winning model homes.
2019
Growing team; expanded to 2nd office bulilding.
2021
